THOMAS MALONE NAMED TRUSTEE OF YEAR

Tom Malone, CEO and PES Company Manager, was recently awarded the Trustee of the Year Award for 2009 by the Trustee’s Association of Community and Technical Colleges of the State of Washington.  Tom has served on the Trustee's Board for many years, and is a long-time member of the Seattle Community College District Board of Trustees, receiving the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award from that Board in 1995.

We read some scary statistics the other day that made us realize how important it is for us as an escrow company to do everything we can to participate in the GO GREEN campaign.  One person wrote, “We are living on this planet as if we had another one to go to”.  

Our modern lifestyle is unsustainable and if we continue down this path, we risk reaching a tipping point beyond which there will be no return. 

We are told:

• One- third of the planet’s “natural wealth” has been lost.
• 90 % of Earth’s dwindling fresh water supply is consumed by industry.
• If everyone in the world consumed resources like we do in the United States, we would need four Earths to support us.

If these statistics are in fact true, they are clearly worrisome.  We, as an escrow company, are eager to adapt new ways in which to do business, embrace new technologies, show heightened appreciation of our natural resources, be more prudent in the use of perishable commodities, be more at balance with nature, and have a more focused resolve to leave our children and grandchildren a planet in which they can continue to flourish.   We seem to be leaders in this effort, and we hope other companies will follow our direction.
